EXAMPLE 1 - HELP FOR TROUBLED STAFF
An Employee’s problems – dealing with fear
The performance of a hitherto high-performing work team was falling off. My initial investigations found that the root problem turned out to be squabbling amongst the staff. As one staff member seemed to be especially troubled, I offered him some individual counselling sessions.
After 6 counselling sessions that employee started to find that he was feeling less stressed. The team too was starting to get back to normal. Everybody was calming down -production improved.

EXAMPLE 2 - HELP FOR MANAGERS
a) Helping managers increase their people skills – one type of soft and hard skills training
A major Government Agency believed that its area of operations particularly exposed its staff to risking misusing alcohol or recreational drugs. They briefed me to help:
- I devised an organisation-wide zero tolerance policy, (Board Room to shop floor)
- I arranged management training. They wanted to know how to prevent trouble in the first place. Everybody preferred helping workers to sacking them
- I devised awareness training programmes for all staff
Training your staff to help your Company deal with Critical Incidents
Critical Incident Defusing, is an emotional and stress recovery process, which is usually most effective if those involved in a traumatic incident carry it out for themselves. It helps people to normalise their lives after experiencing trauma. During training, your staff are taught to help each other by finding out how to focus post-incident conversation and social interaction. This helps everybody involved in the incident to be able to acknowledge and talk about their later thoughts and feelings. Because Defusing is an emotional “pressure-relief valve”, psychological tensions are quickly dissipated and your workplace quickly returns to normal.
Psychological First Aid is a form of trauma intervention that is about treating stress and trauma as a client-led, community-centred, process. The basic steps taught are:
- Contacting and engaging the victims; helping the victims find safety and comfort
- Emotional stabilization
- Finding out just what the victims really need; organizing practical assistance
- Providing information about coping with the possible psychological/emotional after affects.
- Developing links with welfare and health services in case of subsequent need
REMEMBER- I can also help with
- UNDERPERFORMING OR TROUBLED ORGANISATIONS
- MANAGING OUTPLACEMENT AND DOWNSIZING
